Reflection always provides the opportunity for better understanding and growth. My Professional Development Plan has made me realize that there is still a whole lot of work ahead in my professional future as an educator. It made me look at what my goals really are as an educational leader. My family situation including my wife, kids, and both sets of parents is part of the planning process. I learned that some of the ideas I have may require even more education from educational resources like Lamar University Professors. My relationships developed during this cohort are going to be very important for my future ability to find and obtain jobs outside if my comfort zone of Ellis, Kaufman and Navarro county school districts. I am going to have to read more consistently in the educational journals and websites and definitely improve my daily Bible reading in for guidance. I am learning that to be a superintendent you have to think like one every day

Post your reflection on lessons learned from the SISE Conference and comment on at least two other students’ reflections on their SISE.
I had the conference with Mrs. Judith Pritchett, Superintendent of Rice ISD on September 21st, 2011. We talked about my internship and her filling out the SIS evaluation. Just as she did with another member of our administrative team, we discussed the Lamar University program and professors. She is very pleased with the rigor of the courses and how everything is “geared” toward making an educational leader into a superintendent. I am still completing the last assignment for EDLD 5399 and working on the log sheets for finalization of course requirements.
