Job Entry Plan


Day 1
Goal(s) 
Get the keys to the office, along with any alarm system information before the “First day”. Have the office fixed with “my touches”. Talk with central office staff, setting a rapport with them and letting them know who to expect in the office for meetings that first day. Sit down and go over today’s plans with the assistant superintendent.
Objective(s)  
My objective would be to meet with the President of the Board of Education to discuss the actual expectations essential to the operation of the district since being interviewed for the job.
Activities addressing goals and objectives
Greet the office staff and like they say in the class notes.  TAKING DEEP BREATHS, SEEKING STRESS RELIEF OF ANY SORT, RELAX, BE PATIENT, BE FLEXIBLE. 
Meet with the President of the Board of Education. 
Discuss my expectations – superintendent to board and board to superintendent. 
Get phone numbers and email information from the secretary. 
Call by phone the other school board members.
Establish the weekly schedule so that the office staff knows what I do daily.
Let folks know my communication of information expectations.
Talk to administrative leaders.
Resources needed to achieve goals and objectives
Pray for strength and guidance, smile, wear school colors, have good eye contact, use good listening skills and be positive.
Week 1
Goal(s) 
Talk with the board as a whole, administrative team, maintenance, transportation and cafeteria folks.
Objective(s)  
The first week would be to meet with the campus principals individually, meet with the school board members individually, and meet with the central office departmental directors as a team.
Activities addressing goals and objectives
Meet with the campus principals together and then go by their campus during the week to tour the building. 
Get phone numbers and emails. 
Let them know- “no surprises” call me if you think I need to know something good or bad.
Allow principals to share their needs. 
Resources needed to achieve goals and objectives
Be organized. Meet with my secretary to schedule meetings.
Month 1
Goal(s) 
Talk with the district stakeholders and community leaders.
Objective(s)  
Get out into the community as the new superintendent by meeting with groups of stakeholders throughout the district. Depending on the time of year. Use the school web site and local papers to introduce the new superintendent to the community.
Activities addressing goals and objectives
Meet with each campus faculty to begin to review the vision of the district.
Meet with the business/community leaders to begin to explain the district vision. 
Lead the first board of trustees meeting as the new superintendent.
Schedule and lead the first monthly principal’s meeting.
Schedule and lead the first monthly director’s meeting.
Resources needed to achieve goals and objectives
Organize my calendar and make sure my secretary has a copy. Be early or on time to all meetings.
Year 1
Goal(s) 
My goal for the first year is create a network of communication with all district stakeholders.  Informing them of what direction we will be moving in as an education system.
Objective(s)  
Make sure district vision is based on the input of all stakeholders.
Be visible on all campuses and in the community.
Lead in budget, curriculum and accountability decisions.
Activities addressing goals and objectives
Weekly and monthly meetings with school leadership.
Attend all school functions and community events possible in order to see what traditions have been established.
Resources needed to achieve goals and objectives
Keep in contact with superintendents and colleagues, eat right, get exercise and don’t pass up any chance to go to the restroom.
